A Legacy ofExceptional Gems

Ifounded Opal Sales Australia in 2017, but my passion for gemstones began much earlier.

Back in 1995, my mum introduced me to the fascinating world of minerals through a magazine called Treasures of the Earth. Every week, a new issue would arrive featuring a different gemstone or mineral specimen. Before long, I had built a collection that included pyrite, agate, amethyst, quartz, peridot, garnet, lapis lazuli, and, of course, opal.

A few years later, during one of our annual family holidays, my parents decided to take the scenic route through the Australian outback rather than following the coast. That detour led us to a small town called Lightning Ridge. More than twenty years ago, the Ridge was very different from what it is today. There was still opal scattered across the ground, and I remember filling a few small jars with pieces I had found. From that moment on, I was hooked.

Years later, I returned to Lightning Ridge and spent time living and working there. During that period, I began buying and selling opal through Facebook. Many people believed that opal had to be sold face-to-face and that online sales simply wouldn't work.

Over the past decade, it has become clear that the future of the industry lies online — not only for Australian opal, but for gemstones worldwide.

Today, online platforms provide an opportunity to connect people from all corners of the globe with some of Australia's most remarkable natural treasures.

While I have a deep appreciation for all gemstones and minerals, opal has always held a special place in my heart. I created this website to share that passion, showcase the beauty of Australian opal, and provide customers everywhere with access to unique, high-quality gemstones and jewellery. More importantly, I hope to build something lasting that can continue to celebrate and support the incredible Australian opal industry for years to come.
